Dr. Anastasios Tagaris is the CIO of the Athens Medical Group since Feb 2020. He has been Chairman & CEO of ΙDIKA SA (2015-2019) where he actively participated in the redesign of eHealth, Social Security and Welfare domains, in particular: a) eHealth: ePrescription, EHR, Interoperability Roadmap & Codification, b) Social Security: consolidation of Social Security Funds into a Single Fund (EFKA), design of the Unified Registry and Non-Salaried Contribution Scheme and c) Welfare: integration of all benefits under one authority (OPEKA) and design of national scale system to manage all benefits (disability, family, housing).
At the same time he participated in the design of large ICT projects (NSRF 2014-2020) for Ministry of Health and Ministry of Labor, while securing participation of Greece in the Cross-Border eHealth Digital Services Infrastructure (CEF) to deploy eHDSI in Greece and enable data exchange with other EU MS.

He is an experienced project manager/coordinator as he used to work as a scientific associate at the NTUA Biomedical Engineering Laboratory for 20+ years (1994-2015) having active participation in numerous EU funded projects, focusing on the design and development of eHealth applications, eHealth interoperability standards (HL7, DICOM, IHE) and the introduction and application of new technologies (XML, Web Services, SmartCards) in the Healthcare domain. He was also active in the private sector (CCS SA 2000-2004) as the chief engineer who led the implementation of the RIS and HL7 Communication Interface of the company. Since 2014 he is also working as evaluator of EU funded projects for the European Commission.
He holds a degree of Electrical and Computer Engineer (1987-1993), and a PhD degree in "BPR & Hospital Information Systems" (1995-1999) both from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He has published 36 scientific papers in international journals and conferences. He is a member of the IEEE, the Technical Chamber of Greece and the Greek Society of Biomedical Technology and he is the Vice-President of HL7 Hellas.
