Dr. Denia Kanellopoulou is the Head of the Digital Innovation Unit and the Innovation Director of the Intelligent Information Systems Division at the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications of NCSR "Demokritos". She is also a co-founder of ahedd Digital Innovation Hub, a spin-off of "Demokritos" that aims to act as a “one-stop shop” for AI, Big Data and IoT solutions.

Leveraging her diverse academic and professional background (combining engineering, research and business), she strives to bridge the gap between research results and industrial applications, focusing on creating innovative solutions that drive digital transformation using emerging technologies.

She further participates in national policymaking activities as an external expert in Greece’s High-Level Advisory Committee for Artificial Intelligence, a member of the Innovation Group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and is a co-author of the Foresight Study for Generative AI in Greece for the Special Secretariat of Foresight. She is also involved in European policymaking and ecosystem-building activities through the European Digital SME Alliance and the Big Data Value Association (BDVA).

Her contributions have been instrumental in the establishment of key initiatives, including the European AI-on-Demand platform, Smart Attica European Digital Innovation Hub, Giga Campus by Vodafone & Demokritos, the Demokritos-Qualco Fellowship Program (Gold Award at the Hellenic Responsible Business Awards 2022), ahedd’s AI Training Programs for Business Executives, 1000 Pioneers for AI in Greece (Unesco’s Global Top 100 International list of AI solutions for the Sustainable Development Goals), in getting the Platinum Data i-Space label for ahedd from the BDVA and in fostering numerous partnerships with both national and international businesses and organisations.
