Melanie Steel

FCIPD, Founder of People Change Expertise, Experienced HR & Transformation Director

Melanie has many years’ experience in Human Resources and Transformation across a broad spectrum of organisations and recognisable brands, including FTSE 100 companies and Central Government. She has worked closely with Politicians, CEOs and third-party suppliers.

Her most recent client Arup, is a Professional Services Firm where she has been instrumental in modernising their People Function and the preparation for the implementation of a new Global People System. Melanie has worked with many clients in the capacity of People Change Consultant including Arriva Rail London; Boots Opticians; and Solus Aviva Insurance.

Prior to setting up her own Company she held a number of HR Director roles both in the Private and Public Sector. These included: HR Director for the Group Functions at Royal Sun Alliance Insurance; HR Director for the Cabinet Office leading the People agenda for the Offices of The Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Civil Service. She also worked for the Department for Work and Pensions as HR Director to the Corporate IT Function.

Prior to that, she was at Unilever in the HR Transformation Team, the largest HR outsourcing deal, in partnership with Accenture. Melanie spent her early career working with the Ministry of Defence, including time in Germany supporting the Armed Forces, establishing a new HR function. She also held a number of key general management roles at MOD Head Office and throughout the UK.
